Offworld Trading Company v0.0.4853 Update

Thank you for joining Early Access and providing such great feedback! We still have a lot of work to do. Progress will be slow and steady. If this new update causes you issues, please let us know in the Offworld Trading Company Support forums. (https://forums.offworldgame.com/forum/1078) Thank you!

AI / Game

  • Offworld market launches now consume 20 aluminum and 20 fuel (along with 100 of the shipped resource)

UI
  • Fixed issue where 8th player buying/selling stock was being cut off by the event message text

  • Shift + left click on building = toggles its power

  • Shift + control + left click on a building = toggles all the buildings of that type's power

  • Campaign screen: added phase display so you know if you’ve won or lost

  • Schiaperelli Crater -> Schiaparelli Crater (Thanks ElCaptain1701!)

  • Fixed missing electronics factory icon

  • Rotated scientific colony silhouette to match the in-game footprint

  • Disabled debug command tools

Graphics

  • Disabled hardware UI rendering to resolve compatibility issues. (Hopefully everyone can see their UI again!)

  • Adding 4:3 and 5:4 aspect ratios back

If you want to run Offworld Trading Company in DX9, please use the OffworldD3D9.bat that is in the install directory. You can find this easily by:

  1. Select Offworld Trading Company in your Steam Library list
  2. Right-click and select Properties
  3. Select the Local Files tab
  4. Click on Browse Local Files...

Things that are not fixed yet but are working on:

  • Saving and loading games

  • Host migration for multiplayer (for when the host stops or ends the game)

  • Audio issues with the Mac.

  • Offline mode for single-player games

  • Providing players with a development roadmap so they know when to expect what

  • … and a whole bunch of other cool stuff!

Again, progress will be slow and steady. Let us know your problems and we’ll get them fixed.

Optional: Revert to v0.0.4816

NOTE: You will not be able to play multiplayer with anyone not on the same version as you!

Thanks! Will give it a try tonight. Btw.. Please be careful nerfing the offworld. I know currently everyone wants to launch stuff, but hacker arrays can be more abusive for raising monies!

I like the idea of adding aluminum to the offworld launches.  Oh yeah, and it solved my issue with running at d3d11.  I can run without reverting to d3d9 now.

MMM, i am not sure if we should be splitting the multiplayer community when the community is still so small, why have 2 functioning versions of the game on steam i am not sure i get this philosophically, this seems like an Engineer made this decision...

Don't get me completely wrong though ... i LOVE that the game is being regularly patched and balanced... just think we should maintain one player pool.

I agree that we don't want to split the player pools, but I think that this is worth the risk.

The various versions are for compatibility issues. Our #1 concern is that people who pay for the game can play the game. We're going to break the build from time to time as we add features and new assets (hopefully very rarely) and we make a mistake we want players to be able to still play and enjoy the game while we figure out what we broke and get a fix up as quickly as possible.

Thanks!
