Map Pack DLC Now Available for Fallen Enchantress

Map Pack DLC Now Available for Fallen Enchantress

Play on maps designed by Stardock. They introduce new challenges, dangerous threats and worlds to explore. In addition to a new hand crafted map for every map size along with new stamps to spice up random map generation, it also includes the full Anthys map. A gigantic map that contains the entire known world of Elemental (at least, as of ~150 AC).

  • Clash- Play against a single opponent on a balanced map, or discover a ship and explore the nearby islands.
  • Crucible- Four opponents with a common area between their starting positions, can you hold the center and take out your enemies?
  • Dust Bowl- A dangerous map with few fertile positions.  But the land isn't empty, hordes of monsters have claimed it.
  • The Wildlands- 10 Wildlands on one map.  Can any empire rise in a world ruled by monsters?
  • Anthys- Play across the entire world of Elemental on this map that is over twice as large as the largest maps in Fallen Enchantress.

Price of the DLC is $4.99, and purchasing options are available on the DLC info page.

I''ve logged out and back in to Stardock numerous times to buy the game manually and get the familiar error:

DLC Parent Product Required

We're sorry, but it appears that you didn't purchase or receive Fallen Enchantress from Stardock.

To purchase the Map Pack DLC, please visit one of our partners

I'm not sure if it makes a difference to solving this problem, but I purchased Elemental in early 2011 directly from Stardock, so I received a discount on Fallen Enchantress, but was not one who got it for free.

1) Are the new random map stamp bit that compelling?

That's what I'm wondering.  Is there a meaningful difference between maps generated with the stock stamps, and ones generated with the inclusion of the new stamps?

"Dust Bowl" is awesome.  There are monsters everywhere.  I am going to have nightmares featuring Albino Rock Spiders.  There are everywhere.

So far only have two gripes abut the large Anthys map.

1.  Preplaced prespawned monsters are all level 1, including Dragons, Elemental Lords etc...  Where thier Lair spawned equivilents are all standard levels. 15+

2.  Increasing the settings for the amount of monsters/resaorces/quests doesnt have a noticeable effect whatsoever making the difficulty you play it at and where you start out some of the only random elements.

I downloaded the map pack and I feel foolish asking, but what is a "stamp" and how do I access what I downloaded from within the game.  Forgive a senior citizen who is not very computer savvy.  Thanks in advanced for a simple yey detailed answer.

Stamps are used in the creation of random maps. think of them as map snippets, which the random map generator uses to piece together the larger random map that you play on in game.

You do not need to use these, they will just be available to the random generator.

To use the other maps, just select them during game creation.

there's a pretty horrible starting location in the wildlands map: you've got a wildland walled in by mountains right next to you, gotta go around it but east is blocked by coast so you can only expand around a tiny strap of land first west, then north, then east...

you guys really need to make better starting locations because the hours I've spent playing the map so far have been not fun at all due to this. I was expecting Wildland Mayhem, I got Mountain Boredom instead .

That can be a great starting location for the right kind of sovereign (or perhaps the "wrong" kind...).

(In other words, if you have a sovereign that can win battles, but at a high cost -- so high that the total number of battles must be kept small -- then having a narrow front to defend while building initial resources can be very nice.)

If I buy the map pack on Steam, can I then activate it on the version from Stardock's site, like with the base game?

I don't know if there is more than one starting point. The one I had I did not have a problem.

whats a "stamp?"

Think of a stamp as a pre-made puzzle piece. the random map generator uses these to make full size maps.

Will those maps be compatible with Legendary heroes ? Or are they tied to FE vanilla ?

They will be compatible with LH.

People who bought E:WoM early and bought the Map Pack separately, will get a Steam version of the map pack (since they already bought it for FE and LH works as a standalone).

What about people who bought Elemental: FE (Non-Steam), the Map-Pack and Legendary Heroes?

How will we be able to use the DLC on Steam?

<bump>

If anyone knows how to get the maps working on LH on steam, that would be good. Ta.

The map pack is going to get made available for LH players soon.  We just are waiting until it goes 1.0 since some people will think we're "selling" DLC before the game's even done (they won't understand it's just DLC carried over from FE).

Ugh! I certainly don't envy your position in this situation. You know there will be some out there beating that drum immediately. Good to hear it's coming soon though!

Really loving LH so far Frogboy, this may be my favorite project so far by Stardock! (out of many!)

I was delighted to see the Crucible offered; a map which would let me start with an equal starting postion to my opponents, so as to factor out map position advantages and disadvantages.  I was terribly disappointed to discover that the author had largely left out iron deposts, making most of the weapons in the game unobtainable for some of the starting positions.  What were you guys thinking?!? Total fail there.
