Will there be a Demo?

I do believe Stardock stated after release there will be a demo.

Yep, they usually put out demos after release, so they can base it off the release code instead of the beta code.

If it's like Demigod, it will be long after the release. Then again, demigod had some unique <cough> problems that had to be taken care of.

Yes, there will be a demo after release.  They dedicate the time to finishing the game first, and then a demo can come along. 

Is there an ETA?  I would like to try the demo to see if my system will run the game well. Been having issues lately with some.  Am hoping it goes well cause SD is my favorite publisher and Masters of Magic was one of my al time favorites..  Is the game more grphic than Sins?  That ran pretty well for me.

Demigod was not created by stardock, so no point to compare. Stardock was demigod's publisher.

Whether you like it or not, Stardock is attached to Demigod. They, Stardock, seem to know this, so I don't know why you don't.

Uh, his point is still valid. Stardock make game = stardock makes demo. Stardock not make game means Stardock not make demo but has to wait for developer to make demo. 

They don't make them before the release and not usually even release week, and I never said they weren't going to make a demo.

Its simple for me. No Demo - NO Buy.

And Stardock went out of their way to do stuff for that game and ending up fixing a lot of problems code wise- something a publisher shouldn't have to do. So yes they are attached, but they should not be negatively attached.

I personally don't equate Demigod as a bad mark on Stardock. If EA or Ubisoft or Activision had those problems with Demigod, they would have abandoned the game and then yanked any supportive services within a year. If i thought Demigod was all Stardock's fault, i wouldn't have even blinked at Elemental. However, for the general gaming population, they consider Demigod a failed launch and a failed game. You can make snide remarks all you want at the general gaming population, but Elemental is a chance for Stardock to show everyone what they can do and maybe push Demigod's release into a more distant memory.

None of which changes the fact that Elemental probably won't have a demo out before Civ has it's demo and maybe not before Civ has its actual release.

I want to play a downloadable Demo, and then buy a physical copy.

It means that I could currently download the full version on impulse without paying and try it for 24 hours. The only problem is that I need to download the whole game, so it would probably cost more bandwidth than when the demo will be ready since the demo will not need the whole game.

Well Mount&Blade has a nice trial system you can play until you are lvl 5 and then when you buy a game and get ther serial you can continue your game. It's also an indie game.

I will probablly buy Elemental but because it looks that isn't polished yet I will wait until then.

So, is a demo still planned?  I'm still very interested in this game, but I'm not going to buy anything without trying it out first.  I don't even know if it will run on my system or not.

There have been various hints that a demo will happen after the release of the 1.1 patch.

Speculation: They will try to release it before christmas.

Yeah, I believe the plan has always been demo after 1.1, and since 1.1 got pushed back a few times, so did the demo. They will definitely not release one before 1.1 goes live, so hopefully shortly after.

I'm pretty sure Brad mentioned January for the demo.  Can't remember which thread.

This week, Kael and the team are trying to get the game ready for v1.1.  The demo version probably won’t make it out until January due to marketing considerations (late December is a very bad time to put out a demo because coverage would be sparce).  But we’ll be putting up videos and such so people can see how much has changed.

I'm guessing the time of an EWOM demo is long over from a marketing point of view for Stardock.  Whatever they could spend putting out a demo today would never pay for itself in the interest and revenue the demo would generate for the game.

So.... will there be a demo of FE?

So, a year has passed since I last came looking for a demo.  Looks like it's still a no-go.  I'll check again in December 2012, I suppose.

There's not going to be a demo for WOM, but there might be for FE at some stage.

I'm with him. I don't buy a game unless I can play it first. I'd love to try it out. Hopefully they send out an email if a demo ever becomes available.
