The "New" Nightmare on Elm Street

pretty good

I just got back from taking my wife and some friends to the new "Nightmare on Elm Street" movie. It was pretty good I think. My wife was actually scared, then again she scares easy...lol. If I can find one cheap I might pick up a Freddy mask and glove and give her a scare one night soon...hehe.

I thought they could have went into Freddy's background a bit more and I think the movie should have been longer over-all. Plenty of blood and gore though. Sadly, Freddy didn't get "creative" with his kills like he did in some of the other movies. The special affects were obviously CGI. They weren't too "over the top". There were a few scenes you could tell it was CGI but for the most part it looked real. The scenes where you could tell it was CGI were only a split second or two long so it blended pretty well.

The guy that plays "Rorschach" in the Watchmen movie plays Freddy. He does a decent job actually. He's no Robert Englund, but he has potential. I just hope he doesn't get type-cast into these types of roles all the time as I think he has a lot of depth as an actor. They leave the movie open for more so hopefully this movie does well and we can get some longer sequels out of them. The movie is about 90 minutes long.

If you like Horror movies this one is pretty good. If you're a fan of the original "Elm Street" movies go into this one with a open mind and you should have a good enough time.

Could be funny OR you might end up on "The Bachelor" as the star, or then again...maybe as the soloist in the "Vienna Boy's Choir" (alto castrato).

;P ;)

I think the horror movies form that era are good as is.  I was glad to see a remake of The Wolfman, only because it was made so long ago.  But Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, now those movies are good and stand up to time well.  I mean, are we out of original ideas for horror movies?

You got it, the most Remakes are shit, but i think The new Nightmare Movie will be ok, Jackie Earle Haley is a great Actor, he was damn cool as Rorschach. And the Dawn Of the Dead Remake was pretty cool.

It looks cool, I kind'a want to see it.  I do agree though that the original didn't need to be redone - it was fine as is.  They should remake the rest of 'em starting with #5, because those were shite.

I wish they would reboot hellraiser, and do it properly. Maybe not worry about the first two movies because they were decent. but a new reboot with todays effects
