Netscape 6.1 pr1 (Mozilla) is Skinable and now Stable Enough for Prime-Time

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/latest/
Netscape 6.1, the new browser based on Mozilla is fully skinnable, and in its latest version very fast and stable.

Check out the newest version under www.mozilla.org, and check out the cool default skins. Then go to View - Apply Theme - Get new Themes (http://x.themes.org/viewresources.phtml?type=chrome) and check out the cool themes already available.

Now comes the important part: WinCustomize needs a N6 / Mozilla themes section & some theme skinners. Any takers?

I doubt there 'll be much Mozilla chromes here, due to two reasons.

1. Mozilla's skinning format is very complex
2. Too many Explorer sheep here

...and WinCustomize has the policy of only adding sections for wildly popular apps. =sigh=

Oh, I wish I had more time so I could make some skins for it... Mozilla is really just about the only skinnable app I use on a daily basis.

Wow, I'm checking it out right now, big improvement over 6.0. Still quirky in spots though (bookmark management, and for some reason my forward and back buttons aren't functioning). But it is FAST! It scrolls complex pages containing Flash content really smoothly (unlike IE).

Cool, I may convert.

Just to throw out an interesting stat...Here are the statics for browsers used to visit WinCustomize:

1. Microsoft 95.86%
2. Other 2.17%
3. Netscape 1.97%

I don't understand why anyone would use the Netscape branded version instead of Mozilla itself. The Mozilla browser will always be the most up to date and stable version of the code.
