I am just starting to mod this game and was wondering if someone could tell me how to put a new ship in game if you already have the model. Or if someone could at least point me to an existing tutorial.

Download the forge tools and their is documentation of how to do this. But basically take the sins reference data (also in forge tools) and paste your model in the model folder, and create a new ship entity that references it.
