MOO3 Cheap

Well I for one hated it (returned it) as did many others, but if any of you out there that don't have it or haven't had it before, and wanted to try it you can get MOO3 REALLY cheap at amazon.com. It's $29.99 + $20 rebate so it's $9.99. Anyway just FYI.

Hmmmm, I still need a copy of MOO3, I've been looking forward to it...but I doubt it would break my addiction from GalCiv ;) .

It's worth the 10 bux just to see if they can get it patched. There's a kernel of a good game in there just waiting to come out. Crying shame they let that thing out in the shape they did just to get what they could when they could out of it. They should take a lesson from this team over here. That's the way to do it.

C'mon, guys, let's be good sports. Everyone knows it's not the best game, we don't need to keep on bringing it up. Just forget about it.

Actually, I feel kind of bad for the Infogrames guys now. Call me soft-hearted (or soft-headed), but I was in EB and Best Buy today, and there was something slightly sad and forlorn about that long row of unsold boxes of MOO3, even though the price has been cut by 20% since initial release at retail. Contrariwise, there was only _one_ copy of GalCiv left at the local EB, and I had to look hard to see it, I thought at first the store had sold out. Didn't see any copies at the local Best Buy, but might could be they've sold out if they've already received their shipments. One of the surest signs of success is when you have a lot of trouble keeping a particular good in stock...

Believe it or not I think Moo has potential and I like it. However, there is no excuse for the condition that game was in at release. None whatsoever. They are reaping what they sowed. If they can save it via patch, they'll pick up again. If they cannot.... Oblivion and well deserved.

Oh and Blue: Not being poor sport. I have no dog in this hunt so to speak. I get no profits from either unless Frogboy would like to donate to the PontiusBruin I'm going to keep your donation charity fund.

I don't feel bad for Infogrames at all. I just noticed after MOO3 that every game I've bought from them has been poorly made and buggy upon release, and very overhyped. I for one usually don't ever look at the publisher or developer when I buy something (except Squaresoft and Blizzard) but now I won't buy any of their games unless I've played a demo or heard ALOT of good things about it.

I for one am still ticked off at MOO3, I was really looking forward to it's release. The finished product was nothing less than a betrayal to MOO fans. Thank goodness for GalCiv.

No, Strategy First is the distributor of GalCiv. Infogrammes would *never* have allowed them direct sales or the ability to patch the game the way they have. Infogrammes is by far the new Sierra for hamstringing good games and developers.

Stardock is the developer, Strategy First is the publisher and Infogrames is the distributor. Ever wonder why MOO3 included that nifty ad for GalCiv? :)

The reason MOO3 sucked on release is because Quicksilver essentially overhauled the entire game instead of releasing it for the holidays. Don't blame Infogrames...they have tons of good products, and, yes, they are the distributor for GalCiv. I thought the ad was funny, given the comparison between the two.

I, too, think MOO3 is a potentially brilliant game. .potentially. .but I don't think a patch is going to save it, and the financial failure is already obvious. I don't think we'll see MOO4. Too bad.

Looking at the back of the box, bottom left, I see three icon: Strategy First, Stardock and the Infogrames Armodillo. What part does Infogrames play in the distribution of the product? Just a guess, perhaps Infogrames is responsible for the boxed distribution while Stardock provides the online purchase and support for both.

Or, maybe the Armodillo lept off the copy of MoO3 and onto the GalCiv box as I purchased it. :D Bad joke, I know...

Actually, I just answered my own question with a quick search of the net. It appears that Infogrames is responsible for distribution of GalCiv in North America, so I was partially right. See the bottom of this press release: http://www.pcvsconsole.com/news/news.php?nid=1708

SO, while Infogrames is not the publisher of GalCiv, they are partially responsible for getting the game to market (along with MoO3).

GoGamer.com (www.gogamer.com) has MOO3 for $19 for the next 48 hours or so. That's where I got my boxed copy of GalCIV as well ($30)

Hum I didn't realize that. Well then IG (Atari now) have redeemed themselves in at least deciding to distribute this ^^

Heck, and I bought it right when it came out, so I have reason to complain.

For 10 bucks, yes, I'd buy it. It's a nice occasional diversion if you use the script updates made by the fanbase.

Remember that MOO3 will still outsell GalCiv based on its position in the channel. Sad fact of life. I own it and got some fun from it but hope the patch wiol pep it up. GalCiv was easier to get into then strategy elements were my dominant concern vs fighting interface in MOO3.
