Ideas please!!

Okay, if you've read my opening article, you already know my wifey is out of town. If not, here's the deal...

So, my wife is in the military, and recently got tagged for a 4-6 month trip to the dessert. My wife and I are each others best friends, so the time apart REALLY sucks. We're both extremely bored, and miss each other a TON!!

As is obvioius, it's coming up on Christmas, which is going to be an especially fun time to be apart. I'm trying to think of something really really good that I can mail her for Christmas, but not having much luck. I'm fishing for suggestions, and here's a little bit more about her...

She doesn't like jewelry much. I've gotten her necklaces and rings and such before, but I normally have to remind her to put something on before we leave the house. True, this might mean that I just happen to pick out crappy stuff, but I realize my ignorance, and most of the stuff was actually picked out by her.

She's also not much of a 'clothes' person, she VERY rarely goes shopping for dresses, outfits, etc...

Please reply with any and all all suggestions for a super-duper Christmas present that would be mailable to her while she's in the dessert.

First of all, I have to help you with your spelling because it is cracking me up. Remember it this way, you eat "dessert" when you are stressed and stressed spelled backward is dessert. Your wife is in the desert unless she is in a big pool of pudding ;)

About the gift, your wife sounds a lot like me. The only jewelry I wear is my wedding rings and a nice pair of earrings I never change. I am not a clothes or shoe horse either. My idea is to get one of those picture frames or albums that you can record messages with. You could put some pictures that mean a lot to the two of you in there and record your voice to keep her company. That is my thought.

Wow, that's a good idea! See, the intenet IS good for something.

Oh, and she IS in a giant bowl of pudding. It's chocolate pudding...

Hopefully I'll get lots more great ideas like this!

Since I don't know where in the desert she is, I'll assume it's the middle east as that's where our recent deployment went to. I would like to suggest against anything too sexy. I don't know her hobbies or interests so maybe I don't have a right to suggest anything. Try sending her a picture (of you, or both of you together if you have one.) with a nice frame and complimentary matting. Send it in a box filled with random things like a body wash she enjoys, soaps and shampoos, lotion and maybe a few candy bars she likes. It's not the content as much as the thought that will touch her, I'm sure. Write her an extra long letter (getting much time for email over there is almost as hard as not getting sand in your hair from what I hear.) and tuck it in the box as well.

You might need to check with someone on base to see what can and cannot be sent in the mail to her station. :)
