So, going back a hundred messages or so, is anyone going to create the Geezer Empire? I'll join. :)

I'm 60 and clearly too old to figure the game out. I just bought it today but can't even get new ships I've bought to move.

"Africk Corps" or whatever their Rommel in the desert game was called.
End of quote

It was called Afrika Korps, and I played it many moons ago.

My first wargames were their versions of "D-Day" and "Africk Corps" or whatever their Rommel in the desert game was called.

Great fun.

Trying to figure out "Hearts of Iron" lately. It's a bit intimadating at this late age in life.

Ah, yes. For me it was AH Gettysburg, floowed by the above as soon as my group could amass the cash. The games were quite expensive, $6 as I recall.

Still fighting at 46.

Looks like the average is over 30, as the game companies claim; now the big question is, why are
mature people wasting their time on an escapist
game, and more so on a forum of other escapists (like me)?

Some of us have "escaped" completely and are really gone. So for us the concept "escapist" does not apply as it seems to hold on to "returning" as a valid option.

I'm age 51. I calculated the mean age for the first 100 posters on this thread. Then I saw it had 2 more pages... To make a long story short the arithmetic average of the 1st 100 (74 unique) is 30.6. I could get the standard deviation and other statistics, but now I'm going to do something more fun, like my tax return. Oh, yeah, I could also scrub the toilets. Have a nice day or night, as the case may be. :)
