just a question

hi SD team

great software

i was wondering... when i open an internet explorer from the odject dock, first my firewall asks me if ie can go online, i select yes, then it asks me again wanting confirmation for ie to launch through objectdock. (instead of just asking me once)
i wouldnt mind that .. but... it seems that when i close the browser, i can simply open it again without my firewall asking me permission.. so- it seems that object dock holds an open browser - instead of launching a new instance... same with email or any other internet applications...

seems it keeps a window open in firewalls... can you confirm this , or do you have a solution?

thx a lot

What I expect is happening there is the Object Dock config is remembering the browser having consent to connect...so there's no need to continue asking you.

GUI interfaces/enhancements are not 'just' aesthetics...they are also about improved functionality....

hi jafo, bichur

thx for your replies, especially bichur

no doubt objectdock+ has super functionality, just wondering if it is safe like this.. theoretically, object dock is connected to the internet, and even though i dont have an internet explorer or outlook or so open, those apps are open to the net through od+... the only way to stop the internet access from apps is to restart od+.. now, im sure that stardock wouldnt want to somehow connect to od+ (which has been cleared for the net) and see that all mail/net apps are also clear through the firewall...

ugh i dunno.. lol.. im prolly just paranoid, but i am wondering...

any comments would be appreciated..

greets n all teh best to all

If you have your firewall asking you if IE can go online everytime you open IE....quit wondering.

you have a FWall. if you have a decent antivirus, throw in malware checker, don't browse the darkside... everything will be fine.

Then again, I don't have to worry... I'm on rural dialup...takes 2 days to download a virus.

ObjectDock does not "connect" to the internet. Check your firewall's network activity monitor....... you'll not find ObjectDock in the list, unless you're using certain docklets, such as the Weather docklet. You'll still have to give it permission to do so.

It's not OD 'remembering' you gave permission to launch IE via OD......... it's your firewall.
