New DLC suggested planet types.
Urban:
Similar to Star Wars' Coruscant, lots of population but little room for factories/green/natural resoures.
Little crystal, but lots of metal and even more credits.
Nebula:
Akin to magnetic storms, but they also cloak units against each other unless they are very close.
Wild:
akin to greenhouse, but can host very little population. lots of metal and crystal, but little credits.
Massacred World:
Cursed Jungle planet which houses at least one artifact. Inhospitable, and very little resources.
Obscure:
Terran planet but with far more metal and crystal. has often an artifact. but requires a lot more exploration.
Foreboding:
Cold and dry planet, often artifacts. lots of metal and crystal. can support a large population if adequately upgraded, often suited to be a capital.
Stormy:
Oceanic planet. but requires additional research to be fully hospitable. small population, but much higher rates of resources, all of them.
EDIT: more artifacts are also needed, perhaps that grant access to special units and give more bonuses.
Factory Planet:
Like urban, but inhabited entirely by droids. No green whatsoever. Much more metal than normal, but low credits and low crystal.
very good for building ships, as droids need no sleep nor rest.
Capital Ship Builder:
Terran planet, with low population specialized in shipcraft.
once conquered, it grants one "freebie" capital ship, choosable by the player.
Murky:
swamp, rainy planet. Lots of natural resources and artifacts, but very little room for civilization.
Subterranean:
civilization only underground (requires additional research). lots and lots of metal and crystal, many artifacts. very good at building spacecraft. little to zero civilization bonuses.
