The problem is that the point of most scifi versus is to see who would kick the crap out of the other. I.E., Star Wars vs. Star Trek, which usually means "could the Empire kick the Federation's ass".

The Federation is dwarfed by the Empire in every way shape, and form. The Empire has bigger, significantly more powerful ships, and the Empire covers millions of star systems (versus just 150 planets that the Federation controls). No matter what the Federation does, the Empire wins.

Really, the only way for the Federation to "win" a scenario is if the scenario never happens. Basically, the Empire has to consider the Federation to be too much work to bring up to Empire-standards.

I do concede that an ISD vs Godzilla is a hideously unmatched fight, and probably a bit unfair. But the point is that "fairness" is basically making each side follow the same rules. That's it. It's not making sure each side is equal, because as I noted earlier, a fight between an adult and a child, so long as both follow the same rules, is fair. It's unmatched, but fair.

Except, of course, why would I even be on the same planet as Godzilla?

No idea about the USAF stims. I'd imagine it's something to keep them awake/alert, or increase g-force tolerance, if they actually do have stimulants that they issue.

As for the M4/FN SCAR, well, can't help with the M4, as I consider it to be a well-designed, but poor weapon. Most of it has to do with fairly intense maintenance requirements.

The SCAR, well, you can pretty much dump it in a bucket of dirt, let it sit a couple hours, pull it out, and fire it just fine.

I doubt you realize this, but YOU'RE COMPLETELY MISSING THE FUCKING POINT YOU JACKASS.

A "reasonable opponent" is NOT THE FUCKING POINT of a versus scenario. Either party having an equal chance at victory IS NOT THE FUCKING POINT of a versus scenario.

The WHOLE FUCKING POINT of a versus scenario is to pit two or more entities against each other and figure out what would happen, and who would win. Whether or not the scenario is "reasonable" or "evenly matched" is FUCKING IRRELEVANT. The relevancy is that both parties have to play by the same rules. Nothing more, nothing less.

Sadly, you're last sentence betrays your total ignorance of versus debates in general, and SW vs ST in particular. Even if the Empire were the same size as, or even smaller than, the Federation, the Federation STILL FUCKING DIES.

Because the Empire's warships have:

1) Greater firepower. A single ISD, the mainline warship of the Imperial Navy, can slag an entire planet. The Federation's entire fleet can't rival that.

2) Greater FTL Speed. This doesn't sound like much, but the fact that an ISD with a hyperdrive can outrun the COMMUNICATIONS SIGNAL of a Federation starship is a MASSIVE strategic advantage. It's like pitting the Roman Legions against a modern force with airlift capability. The modern force has such a massive mobility advantage that they can use to strike anytime, anywhere, and it allows them to fight on only the most favorable terms to themselves.

Except, of course, in the case of the Empire vs the Federation, it's even worse.

3) Greater durability. This goes hand-in-hand with greater firepower; SW's greater firepower in general means that SW warships have to be able to stand up to greater amounts of destructive energy. A Federation starship could pound all day on an ISD and not even put its (the ISD's) shields down. Whereas an ISD can annihilate a Fed starship in a single shot.

4) Greater industrial capacity. The Empire's control of a million worlds can be chalked up to this, but the ability to field and maintain a fleet including 25,000 mile-long ISD-Is and ISD-IIs, along with probably around 100 Executors (the big 19 kilometer (nearly 12 miles) long super star destroyer) is not to be underestimated.

Add in the ability to construct 60% of the Death Star II, in six months, and it's even worse. keep in mind that the first Death Star was 160 kilometers in diameter (that's 100 miles in diameter for those less metrically inclined), and the DS2 was BIGGER than that. By A LOT. Like, some DSII size estimates peg it at 900 kilometers (nearly seven times the diameter of DS1, and many times the volume) a lot.

As an aside, I'm not the least bit interested in a Godzilla versus. I "raised you one ISD" to illustrate the point that Godzilla is by far one of the least killy things in any science fiction, particularly compared to the Star Wars universe. You seem to believe that I'm interested because I've been refuting your statements that a versus match should be equal in all respects between all sides.

While for a fanfic, that would be acceptable, for a versus scenario, it simply isn't.

Furthermore, don't keep repeating that a versus scenario should be "evenly matched". By their very nature, versus scenarios aren't supposed to be evenly matched. It's simply a consequence of taking different universes and pitting groups from said 'verses against each other.

On a tangent, continuing to repeat yourself while ignoring the rebuttals of your "opponent" (which in this case is me, as we've descended into a fairly informal debate), is called "broken record debating". It's very heavily frowned upon, to the point that most experienced debators of any kind will conclude that you simply have no other argument and are hoping to win by so frustating your opposition that they simply give up. In which case, you will then be heavily flamed, trolled, and/or ridiculed.
