Meh. Just throw it on the "RPG-only" pile with getting struck by lightning 20 times and still surviving with no permanent damage or getting chewed up by some monster, but never ever losing a limb, breaking bones, or having even scars or how a character can shrug off arrows all game but in a cutscene an arrow irrevocably kills a character.
All that kind of stuff is just in that pile, so it doesn't really kill immersion for me. Break most RPG stuff down and it stops making any sense.
Having impractical armor seems to pale in comparison, imo.
I gotta totally agree with this. When the design a game engine where you can pick and choose what real world physics and physiologies you want to use in the game, it might be more relevant, but not at this point!
