We could have some potential problems due to licenses and such, if that would be the case we would just write with Elemental WoM as an inspiration. That born of our ideas can still be implemented in to the game.
Anyway, I started working on an idea here. Let me know what you think and I will keep you posted.
I´m working on a pretty interesting story that will be told via linked quests. It involves a free city, ruled by 12 merchant lords. This city will be represented by a minor faction. As merchants, these rulers see the profit that could be gained out of the strife of other factions. To trade arms and artifacts to gain even more wealth.
The ambition of one certain merchant lord makes things a bit more interesting. For the moment I will name him Yaleth. Yaleth sees the the enormous power of the wealth of the free merchant city, if combined. If all the lords unite under one banner. With betrayal and cunning he soon has the entire guild under his foot. He seeks to use this enormous wealth to expand and make himself in to a sovereign. By buying mercenaries, adventures, artifacts, etc. And so he does. Think a minor faction, lead by a man of great ambition and enormous wealth.
The quests would be given by the exiled merchant lords, who seek to reinstate themselves as rulers again, to regain former glory. By doing so you will receive money/items etc in tribute. As they "join" your kingdom/empire.
Quests revolving around:
- Thwarting the plans by stealing artifact/item X quicker
- Killing adventurers employed by the sovereign Yaleth
- Defeating his armies and generals.
- In the end, hunting him down and killing him.
Of course this could also be reversed if one works for Yaleth, seeking out each of the weaker merchant lords and killing them. The rewards of Yaleth are greater, but in the end you wont have a passive friend, but a potential foe who grows more powerful and dangerous with each turn.
Quests such as:
- "Poska is fat, and I never liked him: Flay him alive.
