[Tool]3GB Enabler

Enables SoaSE + Addons to allocate/use more than 2 GB of memory

Dear SoaSE Community,

I came across this handy tool, that enables any exe to use more than 2 GB of memory (even on Windows XP, instructions in the readme). I edited the bat files to work for SoaSE, SoaSE E and SoaSE D.

I modified my SoaSE Exe and both addon exe files with it and now I can play SoaSE with mods like Distant Stars on highest details without getting a minidumb.

Download 3GB Enabler

It surely will disallow you to play online, but I am not sure. You can try it, if you risk BUT I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR IT, IF YOU GET BANNED! (Therefor the Tool renames the modified exe files, so that you can launch the normal SoaSE and the 3GB Enabled SoaSE)

I hope this tool will be of use for some people

there has been a few posts about this, but nice to see one that is dedicated to SoaSE
just so all you know this trick works with alot of other games even apps

Actually it was mentioned in the sins optimizer mod, but as far as i could understand, the result was that sins still had a cap on 2 GB ram, but it didn't cause a minidump when it reached the limit.

Haven't seen the topic, but this tool is mainly for 32bit apps and 32bit operating systems, so that the app and os can use more memory.

I can only say, it fixed the minidumb/crashing problems for me, i do not encounter slowdowns etc.

Use this at your own risk, because it does modify your core sins exe.

All 32 bit games have a 2 gig limit, but Sins loads all of its assets at once while other games only load what is needed, and unload what is not. Sins does not do that.

The Optimization mod doesnt change any core game files. It uses the mods folder and overrides vanilla sins files. It lowers poly counts, and texture resolutions so the game doesnt need to use 2 gigs of ram. While maintaining the games quality.

it worked for me, i simply didnt replace anything, just copy over and say no,
there was 2 minor problems,  deepspace skybox, but ingame i go to effects and click the "Use Deep space Sky Boxes" until i got a working one and the other was some minor texture defects on some planets, other then that, i didnt notice anything

some files might not be "compatible" with each other if you activate them seperately, you might void it by having the optimization mod at the bottom of the list.
