i donno it looks like all klingon in them corrupted i have put file in but still no joy. have use checked the files on system on d/l server lately??

If i had the time, and a reliable file host i would mirror the modDB download here. because that version is newer, and it includes the asteroid fix. I have had very bad luck with file hosts lately. All of the files i upload seem to wind up being corrupt no matter which host i use. Yet if i do direct transfers between puters or use sync then no problems at all. which is why i dont upload anymore.

Everyone "should" get the more up to date ModDB version despite the pain in the ass factor of ModDB. Just so you all have the same files for MP.

Perhaps someone can upload the ModDB version to a reliable host and PM me the link so i can update the main topic.

I had a great idea for pirates in a future release: the Hirogen, at least they fit in for the delta quadrant idea, perfect pirates.

Iirc and if there hasn't been a change in plans the orions will be the pirates.

That map you are playing is a fan made map, not part of the official mod. I made it a while back and havn't updated it in a while. Lunar and Mercury are dead asteroids for balancing, nothing to do with the asteroid fix, if you wish you can open the map with galaxyforge and change these to your desired preference, say asteroid etc.

Other eras were considered, but it would be very tough to pull off, because TNG had the most variety of canon ships. I considered a TOS era mod, but it would have been based more on "Starfleet Battles (aka starfleet command) than Trek itself. Again due to the lack of canon material. We use non canon from FASA and SFC to fill the gaps in SoA 2, and we are making up stuff as we go. SoA 2 is based closest to DS-9, but takes place intentionally after Trek XI starts (2388). We are ignoring the events of Trek XI for this mod, because it complicates things WAY too much to include them. You do want romulus, and vulcan to still exist dont you? "If" we accepted the events of Trek XI then everything from TOS forward would be erased from existance. Due to a paradox of epic proportions thanks to Nero, err or should i say Spock.... Well he did invent the "red matter" that started that whole mess.

While we focus on a fictitious post TNG era that never existed, there is absolutely nothing stopping anyone from using what we have done here (code wise) as a guide to create a trek mod in another era. In fact i encourage it. You will just have to provide your own models (be it yours or permissions from a 3rd party). All of ours are spoken for.

Orions will be the pirates. Free time willing (crosses fingers) i can conjur up a mesh or 2

Planetary defenders. Again free time willing will be various "ships of the week" we saw in TNG including a ferengi marauder, and a Sona battleship.

Ships we will NOT include in this mod just to remove ALL doubt. They wont be included due to ether being "uber", or being absurd. or being from Voyager, or all of the above. The Scimitar (fits both the uber, and the absurd catagories). The Prometheus, (Too uber, and its from Voyager. I HATE VOYAGER!). Any, and all "timeships" (again absurd, and all from Voyager... Did i mention that I HATE VOYAGER?). The Olympic (alternate timeline). The Galaxy X (alternate timeline). The Dauntless (alien ship, and its from Voyager.. nuff said).

No Delta quadrant races will be included with the exception of The Borg (see the above "I HATE VOYAGER" comments).

Yes I do hate Voyager, Dont get me started as to "why". I will just sum it up in 2 words.. KILLER B's. At least the Intrepid, and the Nova classes are in the mod (AFAIK they are the only ships from voyager that are). The first 3 seasons of Enterprise are also in the same category as Voyager (pure crap, and again KILLER B's), but at least the last season almost redeemed it. Pity it was too late to save the show. We do use "Alien" ships from Enterprise in the mod, but we will NOT use earth ships.

That is my point of view. I dont want to write a novel as to why i feel the way i do about voyager, or enterprise. Others worship the shows, and to each their own. The old school shows may have had cheesy fx, and no catsuited fake boobed bimbos, but at least they told a good story. Especially TNG.

Voyager had a single invincible Intrepid-class starship (which is lame, even the Battlestar Galactica ended up paying the price for getting the sh*t kicked out of it so often), weak and puny Borg, and horrible writing, and that's just off the top of my head.  Stress probably has a much longer and more detailed list.

I agree with Mystic Angel, IMO the prometheus isn't that strong. I don't know know much behind the science of the ship, but having four independent power sources for weapons and shields makes each segment weaker and easier to pick off individually. Whether the increased movement makes up for these disadvantages and able to co-odinate attacks; surely it would be better to have 4 defiants instead. The military stratagem 'divide and conquer' seems prevalent here, the prometheus is only making itself weaker (from a logical point of view).

The decision has been made by the ones in charge to leave these 'uber' ships out which I completely agree with, however the prometheus model is quite attractive.

My major beef's with both Voyager and Enterprise is the horrible writing. Mystic Angel pretty much summed it up. Add to that.. Technobabble always saves the day. The relentless overuse of time travel. The fact they made the Borg look like retarded jack in the box's. They didnt need 8472 to defeat the borg. The horrible writing did a good enough job all on its own. A puny invincible light cruiser kills cubes with 2 torpedo hits, and after the each and every battle it flies off in PRISTINE fresh out of spacedock condition. with an infinite supply of crew members, and shuttles. The only exception was vs the Equinox. Voyager got the crap beat out of it, and it showed for once. The year of hell was good, but an alternate timeline (again the Killer B's relentless overuse of time travel). Janeway one day adhering religiously to the prime directive, the next day breaking it without a second thought. The entire cast are just cardboard ornaments that are only there as filler. When Kim got spaced in one episode i was like.. meh, There is more, but i wont go into detail. The point is made.

Enterprise's first 3 seasons followed in Voyagers footsteps way too closely. It was a rinse and repeat in a different era. Plus they made technology of the 22nd century mimic the 24th century. Hull plating.. Might as well have been shields. Phase cannons o.0 why not just call them phasers, and get it over with.. Photonic torpedos >.< nuff said. I got no issue with the NX itself. Even though it IS an admitted rip off of the akira. The producers wanted the Akira itself to be the ship as it is now, but the fx guys said NO (thank god they had some pull). The NX is a believable precurser to the akira. My issues were the blatent disregard for what was already established. More horrid writing, Using the Xindi as a plot device instead of the Romulans since the show was set at the very time the 1st romulan war was supposed to happen. Again technobabble saves the day, and overuse of time travel (the temporal cold war). Enterprise was meant as the "reboot" of the franchise.. They just failed to say it was a reboot. If they said it was going to be a reboot then i still think the show would still be on the air.

The Forth season was good, because the Killer B's stepped aside, and let Manny Coto take over. The best enterprise episodes were mannys "fix the continuity" episodes. Unfortunetly it was too little, too late.

definitely agree with you stress, of course I also hate DS9 just because I've never been able to sit through more than two episodes cause I can't stand to listen to Sisko's horrid acting.  I think Stephen Hawking has more inflection in his voice (not meant to offend an incredible man).  It will never get better than TNG.  Of course I have my own beefs about some of the TNG movies
