I see the forum is acting up again. Wonder how long it will take for it to break again.
Progress on the 0.5 series foundations:
Started implementing 1/2 scale on all mod units. Tremendous improvement in performance of the 1/2 scale ships. They leave the grav well less frequently, and all but eliminated the bumper car syndrome in the smaller units. Bigger units might still collide. I havent got to them yet.
I Started looking over all of the meshes, and i noticed a LOT of disturbing bonehead mistakes made with the mesh nulls. Which i am fixing as i progress with the new foundations, but the SoA 2 team needs to check them out as well, and fix as necessary for any future 0.4 series updates. Pretty much every ship i checked so far had an error in some shape, or form. Nulls that are miss-spelled, miss-placed, miss-aligned, pointing left when they should be pointing right. Example the Miranda, and Constitution both had its port side phasers facing starboard, and starboard phasers facing to port. Some ships also have too many redundant, and unused nulls. Like weapon-2 nulls when the ship doesnt use a weapon-2 in its entity. Why did the Miranda have 8 ability-1 nulls? We wonder why we got dev exe errors, and ships doing very stupid things.. well... here is your answer. I am not blaming the current team for this. You didnt make the nulls for the ships, and i did not make them ether. Regardless of whos fault it is this needs to be fixed asap. The ships that i fixed so far perform flawlessly. I wish i would have seen this sooner. Many issues could have been avoided.
The Borg so far are playing as intended. They may seem OP to you, but that is the whole point. They ARE OP. However they are not undefeatable. It is supposed to take a fleet (or several fleets) to defeat a standard Borg cube or complex. You forget at wolf 359 1 scout cube destroyed 47 federation starships easily. They arent that OP in the mod, but it will still take a force to defeat a cube. We didnt intend for anyone to play against multiple borg opponents. That is plain suicide. We intended for a group (preferably one of each of the four factions) to play against one borg opponent, and against each other.
