Babylon 5 mod effort for Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion

This is the story of the last of the Babylon 5 mod-efforts. It's goal, to prevent another failure, by creating a place to solve our problems collaboratively. Its a port of call, home away from home, for modelers, texturers, programmers and sound engineers.

Installation Guide:

Download the latest Sins Remastered mod from here:

Extract the archive into a 'SinsRemastered' folder in your 'C:\Users\%username%\Documents\My Games\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion\Mods-Rebellion v1.85' folder.
Download the latest Babylon 5 Sins of the Younger Races mod from here:

Extract the archive into your root 'Mods-Rebellion v1.85' folder instead of a new mod folder as the archive ALREADY contains a premade 'SotyrRemastered' folder inside of it (so if you're not careful you'll end up with a mod folder inside of a mod folder and it won't work lol).
Start Sins and go to 'Options', then 'Mods', and you should see the mods you've installed.
Enable 'SotyrRemastered' and then enable 'SinsRemastered' too. Make sure that the load order is SotyrRemastered first/top and then SinsRemastered second/bottom.
Restart Sins and you should be good to go!

Sometimes the in-game mod loader can be a bit funky so if you can't see the mods you've installed or something isn't working then enabling the mods via the 'EnabledMods.txt' file in your 'Mods-Rebellion v1.85' folder where you installed the mods to is the other alternative. It should look like this to work:

Hello dear friends. A dark time is upon us.
On the 20th of december, a temporal downtime is to be expected. This could possibly last for a few days, as the entire website is going to be revamped. We will get the new forums, new wiki, probably proper video gallery and FAQ, as well as a chat. All of this will take time to impement. At the same time, the wbe server will be changed. Nothing drastic to be expected there, this change is minor, but necessary and somewhat time consuming. This doe mean that it will be somewhat messy for about a week.

Yes... because they have mess up like the last time...

When you move to a new place, you first setup the new place, syncronize it with the old one, ad finally shutdown the old one...

They was knowing that it will come but have wait the last moment... more bad, they have not keep the domain name... so, the long and slow process to promote the site will need to be start again... this only for spare something like 50$ on a 10 year term...

So, except around one week for the new site , maybe one month for a good working site and a year for retrieve our actual traffic... hope that like last time, we will not loose all our PM, that some post will not dissappear, etc...

Welcome to the 7DS world... where we are informed from top decision at the last moment... in fact, same Danman have seem surprised about it !!!

The numerous mod hosted there was what keep the place alive... but guy like Tobi ( dev of the B5 mod ) is surprised about it...

Now, from what i have read, we will have flah, java, new wiki and other fancy thing... hope, not something like these forum who is not really practical for modder... and if all move to the danman server with a max of 10kb/s, i am done with it... i have not the patience to wait 10-15 seconde for having a page show up...

One more time, the base of people who keep the forum alive was ignored...

Yes, i am pissed off... i have read the post about the change one or two days ago... have ay that it was a very bad time because several mod hosted was planned to make a christmas release ( B5, BSG, 7DS )... in your case, recently, SteinerX have create a bug page there... if you release now, nobody can reach it...

Really crazy to make a move in the holiday periode... why not before, something like begin november... so, all will have good today...

So, in my personal name ( i don't speak anymore in the name of 7DS ), i am really sorry about the inconvenience... i was not able to inform anybody sonner because we was keep in the dark ourself... be sure that you will always have my support like a individual... i am tired now of speak about a 7DS team who don't really exist... people like your B5 mod team are a real team... same think for the BSG mod, the Tesla mod, Halo mod and a few other... but not so good like your mod ...

So if you agree, i will finish some work promise to some other mod hosted on the now dead sri-corp and apply to become a exclusive modeler for your team... for UV optimisation, you are the perfect example when the "student" once show the way, he become better that the "teacher"... and for texturing, i cannot compare to someone like SteinerX who is really talended... the fact is that i simply feel home with peoples like yours... tired to feel alone in the dark like in my previous place... being a ex military navy guy, i workship team work ( survival ) and like a clear chain of command ( priority )... and i can find these value in your team...

Of course, if it lead to too much problem with the 7DS world for you, i can back off and simply be a individual who assist you when he can... Danman will certainly feel it like a betrayal and will not be happy... Danman is not a bad guy but he have not idea about leadership... the problem is more these "dark" top that nobody control... that nobody know...

Hi guys,

I have to apologize for the site being down, and the total lack of notice on this. File, once again I need to apologize to you too my friend. I feel like someone just pulled the carpet from under our feet, and just when we are all getting ready to release mods, this happens.

I am telling you the truth, in that I HAD NO IDEA that this was going to happen. MAXSIM was supposed to give us plenty of notice when renewal time came up for the site, but he never did that obviously. I can let you all know that I am feverishly working to get the forum back up, being at sri-corp or on the proper location.

You say File that I have no leadership, this is only partially true. The problem is that I have lost most of my power due to the fact that I relied to heavily on others instead of doing things myself. This was the case with the site. However, this may also be a blessing in wolf's clothing, as this will now give us the shove we need to host the forum on our own server. This server is PAID for by me for the whole year, with professional hosting services and SSL certification. The speeds should be MUCH faster now as well. I am also implementing a new way to share files as well, which should make modding easier for everyone.

Also, I made a backup of the entire forum yesterday, so we should be good as far as not losing everything. We just need to get it all back up and running, of which I cannot do myself since I don't know how the system works. I am trying to have it all back on today if everything goes right.

If you guys can bear with me, everything should be fixed soon. I hate these technical bumps just as much as you guys do, especially when I did not know about them, or prepare for them.

You guys have a great team, and a well welcome addition to the DMG team. Hopefully you guys still think so as well. We are all moving in the right direction, lets continue to do so.

Thoumsin / Fileosoft, I bear you no ill will my friend. If you want to jump to this awesome team, you have my blessing. Hopefully all of you guys can still be part of what we have going on over at DMG, just bear with me as I/we try to make things better. We just need to get through these growing pains.

It is slow like hell... more that one minute for load the main page... and the backup seem to end at the 18 june 2009... so, something have go very very wrong in the transfer... in fact, people like Tobi, Koobalt, SteinerX don't exist on the new place... the section B5 mod don't exist too... and the the wiki don't exist anymore...

Sorry for the delay, but it took a long time to hack my way back into my old account (aka - remember that you are supposed to use your email for login instead of nic). For those that do not remember me, I am part of DMG, but I left 7 Sins over a year ago to work on other projects.

We had 48 hours notice due to a miscommunication so we have been working on this as a top priority. We were expecting the server group to contact us for confirmation that we would no longer be using their services. As you can see with the "pop-up hell", they do not seems to be as professional as we expected.

We been planning a move for the last month due to all the complaints (including our own) about how slow the service was. There were times when the fourms would be completely unaccessible for hours. That is not acceptable, so we began talking about it and making plans. Due to the recent flooding of our webmaster's house, this was closer to being done, but it is our higest priority.

Now the site you currently see up at www.forums.danmangames.com is what we are using as our template on which to load the backup onto. This is a fourm copy from June (I believe), so it is not current. Also the server that DMG is hosted on is having some issues right now. Even our mail server is experiencing slowdowns and even total dropouts. We are looking into that, since we are directly paying for them (Maxim was paying for the Forum Server with Siri). We would preferred to redirect any hit on the old forum to our new one, and are also looking into it. The rental of the domain should not be that much.

Unfortunately it will take a few days to get the backup loaded, but you will not be losing more than the last 48 hours (at most). Hopefully the host server will also have their issue sorted by then.

First, welcome FourAces...

It was a very very long time ago but i rent my domain name ( www.love-from-russia.be ) for 50 euro by ten year... renew each 10 year for the same amount... it is really nothing when compare to server cost... only problem will be for link the old domain name to the new IP... DNS server are not very fast for update and it can take 2 or 3 days...

By the way, next week, i will be in London and buy "Dragon Age Origine", so i will be able to test your great work... hope that you will continue the work and that you are not too much pissed about how EA have treat you... they are simply jealous that your guys make a better work that them and that you have discover how they have cheat their own customer with low textures...

Let me know how HiRes Pack 1 runs for you. It should be fairly stable for most of the game. Of course, you will have to play a while with Vanilla before you install it, so that you can really see what it does. If we had a 1'st person camera view (which you only get during converstations) it looks pretty good, if you can ignore all the clipping.

I will still be doing some work but based on their actions of late, I will not commit to more than another month or two. I will be actually replacing some of their LoRes textures, but do not know how much I can get done. There is also the problem that it has a memory leak, and they pretend that they have never heard about it (though posts on their own forum date back to the release date two months ago). I now think their engine is defective, and we are very limited in what we can do. Heck, they will not even give us the tools to extract the meshes.

Hopefully we can get that domain and redirect. We want to make the best of this situation.

I have been looking for a good B5 mod since finding the Great Wars site for HW and now I find a mod for Sins and find out that The Great Wars team is back makeing a B5 mod for HW2.

I read, your in need of texturers and most likely any other qualified help. I haven't done textures in about 8 years and only text file editing since then. If you need the help I can submit something in the next week or so, (with Chrismas and other family obligations may not be tell after New Years) then you can see if my skills are up to pare with this mod. None of my previous work was ever distribted and I got intrested in moding about the time that the original HW comunity self destructed.

Well just let me know if your intrested.

Not kind words ... true words! And remember you were and are still my teacher:) When I do the Explorer I'll do the .cl, .da and have a go at the .nm (still not to sure about this you may need to assist with .nm - but want to try and get it right)
