there are alot of ways to play Sedna. some of them are support and healing focused. some are not. she makes a great support character if focused around Healing Wind, Heal, and Magnificent Presence. she makes a very good Duelist if you focus on Pounce, Silence, and Inner Grace. i've yet to find a build thats any good at clearing creeps, seems to be a weak point.

you really just need to let your team know what your role is going to be.

there's nothing wrong with playing Sedna as a Duelist and basically just chasing down other DG's. she can have the highest run speed and health regen in the game, which makes this kind of roaming hunter/killer strategy quite effective. (though i still think Unclean Beast is somewhat better at it).

there is however something wrong if your team thinks you're going to be supporting them and then you don't. thats a great way to get all of you killed. a little communication goes a long way.

I'm kinda starting to sound like a broken record on this so I'll be brief.

Theres no such thing as support character in DG. There are DG's with support abilities but nobody who fits into the traditional 'healer' type slot.

My evidence for this is the fact to progress in this game you need to beat things up, get xp and gold and make yourself more powerful. If you forsake your dps and focus entirely on healing your DG will quickly fall behind and suck.

So while a good Sedna player should throw out the odd heal now and again it is not her job to follow other DGs around healing them. There is an element of self interest involved in levelling your DG and Sedna needs that mana to look after herself and doesn't need to drop everything she is doing to come pull somebody elses head out of their ribcage every thirty seconds.

In fact in the long run its very bad for the team if she does.

I urge my teammates choice of Demigod to see how it will be a positive effect on Sednas abilities. I heal when I can, usually always have mana and really do not mind at all.

Right. Her heals should be used like Oak's shield ability. To save a teammate from death, denying the enemy DGs gold. That being said, I can not see why a Sedna player would not heal an ally with very low life running to them with an enemy DG or two chasing aftet them. (unless she uses pounce to stun).

In my some what limited experience, once some people see that Sedna is with them they charge blindly into the stupidest of circumstances expecting that Sedna is going to some how magically heal their way through it.

It's quite annoying.

Theres a huge difference between seeing an ally in trouble and being able to help

or

following them around the entire game just in case they get into trouble.

The OP is talking about the way players complain when percieved 'support' characters don't follow them around and/or spec for maximum support.

Meh, I never have a problem with it because when I do play her I play her as support. Same thing goes with someone like Omniknight in DotA. People play him as a hero killer but if you play him as a support class you have a higher chance of winning because you're a force multiplier. Plus you can get a ton of kills without even trying.

That's not the impression I'm getting Silphius. He's complaining about people going "why didn't you heal me?" as well as "where the hell were you?" The latter is obviously the "follow me around and shine my shoes" mentality but the former sounds more like he was in the area but still not using his spells.

He is clearly addressing all of 'these' people when he says dont expect me to follow you around. Now I'm sorry but by addressing them as a group it is a clear indication that the problem is singular and about being in the area.

There are clear indications in the post that he does use heal on others:

Having a support character as an ally can be helpful. You can be healed, you can be saved, etc.

The concluding line:

Just don't go expecting Sedna to stop what she's doing and focus on you.

People should shut thier cakehole and let the player choose his or her own way of playing the chosen demigod.

Factors that cannot be argued about. If either of these are present, and you are going to assume they are since your fellow players are not utter retards, then you blame yourself for dieing and no one else.

I've mostly been playing Sedna lately. IMO, She is actually one of the strongest at killing DGs, unless the other side has particularly good players. (Also, **** any good Erebus) She's pretty bad at killing creeps without minions. Direct Healing is one of the last things I usually level up in. Healing Wind is usually the second I get. So stay close and you'll heal up over time.

That said, if there's a plan, I'll heal as often as I can if someone is working with me, and not just getting hurt until they become easy meat for the other team if I don't. (How much I'd like to just deny healing to those idiots, but that would strengthen the other team) Ask if and never assume that a Sedna has skill points in healing. Things that help her a lot with reinforcements are anything that hits multiple targets to compensate for her relatively low (default dps), which means nature's recconing (passive) armor of vengence (passive), warlord's punisher (active), and healing level 4.

Few things seem scarier than a speed 11.4 Sedna, with some actual damage potential, and massive regeneration/healing.

You're spot on. Of course, if I've got the mana, and got the ability to meet someone half way and save their ass i'll certainly try. It's more of a point that if that doesn't happen, the blame cannot be put onto Sedna.

Without intense coordination nobody should ever go into a fight expecting to get a heal. Even with a Sedna behind you it is always best to play it safe and run if you think you will be in trouble without a heal. When you die in this game, it is almost always your fault/responsibility and not that of your allies.

Of course one exception being that your allies have fed them kills all game until they have godly artifacts and such, that you can't stand up to them.

I apologise Silphius, I'm obviously not trying to contradict myself or you.

I'll attempt to clarify. Your above post (Reply 12) is accurate, as is Doggiedoodle's post. I know that doesn't sound right, as you are correcting each other. I'm putting many different circumstances together.

Yes, I'm certainly saying "don't expect me to follow you around".

I'm also saying "if you're low on health and I'm right there, don't rely on Sedna's healing abilities to get you out of trouble".

It's not that I wouldn't WANT to help people and when the situation arises, and I certainly do my best in such circumstances, but for many, many reasons it's not always possible.

So I guess the original quotes in my OP refer to both circumstances.

I can certainly see why people become frustrated with their Sedna ally. After all, she's fast, and she can heal. It takes the fun out of the game when people start placing the blame for their foolishness on other people. Although I'm sure you're aware of that already!

Well, keeping your ally from having to retreat has some real perks, keeping them fighting bolsters your overall position, so just using it to prevent death is a little...short sighted imo.

I play a lot of sedna, so I kind of know what you're talking about. I've never actually had someone complain, but I can imagine it from some of the pushier players I've played with. I think the worst thing that has happened like that is that I was simply didn't have enough mana to cast heal, and someone complained that I was right there and could have saved him. I explained and the situation, and that ended it...but I at least sympathize with you. And as a nod to Silphius, no, there are no support demigods...I do think healing your teammates serves you well anyway, by keeping them in the combat. And I think there is a very real team element to the gameplay.

Well, I'm sorry, but in a 4v4 or 5v5 game, unless there are two Sedna, you should go for a Healing build as it will make a huge difference in the long run.

Then again I play premade teams, so yeah it's not the same thing as with random Joe...our Sedna is expected to Heal and support us.

No it's not okay.

Just because you're clueless how to play, it won't stop people going "wtf" when you don't heal. With sedna, healing build is how you do it, no matter what you say of "but i can tank/dps/chase too" there are other heros that do it better than sedna.

So its either you L2P or you will be yelled at.

Same thing happens in many other games - take WoW for example, feral druids or shadow priests. They really arent viable specs, no matter what you say, a resto druid and a holy/disc priest will always do the job better.

IDK about Sedna but as Oak when i see a team mate with less then 50% hp battling enemy DG
i ALWAYS cast shild on him, and i reicived many thanks for just that.
And its not like i ever play as supporting Oak, actualy im focusing on damage assasian like Oak.

when i play as LE, and i see ally fighting enemy i always stun even if im just walking nearby
mainly because the stan is very cheap on mana and it can help my ally a lot
for example if he is too scared to run knowing he will be chased and killed
many allyes thanked me for that small thing as well
and counltless allys were saved by this little stun for just 1 second.

I also use this spacial item (forgot its name) that heals ally for more then 1k HP and damage enemy for 600hp
i tend to use it when we have ally tank (rook) and while he fights i just running around throwing hits here and there
and watching the rooks HP, if i see hes retreating i always jump in to fight off the enemy DGs from his tail.

I never gave it much though it just came naturaly and sometimes its hard for me to see why others
dont do the same as it is easy and basicly free, i assume its due the fact that many people have problems
with micro managing during battle (i.e to attack + to support + to figure out the outcome of every act an so on...)
i came to this conclusion after i noticed that many players in fact cant handle fast mode games.

No need to apologise Bender I just couldnt follow what was going on Thanks for the clarification. And yes I certainally know what you mean.

If anything I understand too well having played a few too many games as healer type characters. Theres nothing quite like chasing after somebody as they run away from you only to see them die and have them scream at you for not healing.
